Job Description

 

The foreign teachers to be employed should have the following conditions of appointment

  • 1. abide by the relevant laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and the University’s rules and regulations, and refrain from making inappropriate remarks that undermine national sovereignty, security, honour and the public interest of the society.
  • 2. have strong professional qualities, team spirit, collective values and dedication, and be able to consciously abide by the code of professional and academic ethics for teachers.
  • 3. Foreign teachers engaged in language teaching should be native English speakers with a university degree or above and proof or certificate of relevant work experience in language teaching.
  • 4. Foreign teachers engaged in professional teaching should have a master’s degree or above, a professional and technical position of associate professor or above or another professional and technical position of the same standard, a relevant professional background and extensive work experience.
  • 5. In principle, they should be under 60 years of age, be in good health, have no criminal record, and be free from drug abuse, infectious diseases, mental disorders and other diseases and behaviours that may have an impact on the safety and physical and mental health of students.
  • 6. Be friendly to the Chinese people and have no anti-Chinese tendencies.

Workload and remuneration package

  • 1. The teaching workload of foreign teachers should be at least 18 hours per week, in the form of classroom teaching, special lectures, practical teaching, etc. The research tasks of foreign teachers are proposed by the second-level faculty (teaching department) and the workload is agreed through contract, without any uniform requirement.
  • 2. The working salary of foreign teachers is based on the salary standard of foreign teachers of the State Administration of Foreign Experts, and combined with the professional background and titles of foreign teachers, RMB 14,000-18,000/month for undergraduate students, RMB 15,000-19,000/month for master students and RMB 16,000-20,000/month for doctoral students. The College will conduct an annual assessment of foreign teachers, and the employing unit will submit an appraisal of foreign teachers, and those with excellent performance will be rewarded with a certain salary increase.
  • 3. Foreign teachers who have worked for one year are entitled to an annual transport allowance of RMB 10,000.
  • 4. Foreign teachers are paid on a contractual basis and do not fluctuate with the salary structure of the school, but are entitled to the welfare benefits of the school for staff on staff.
  • 5. The school will provide foreign teachers in the country with insurance coverage worth RMB 100,000, accidental medical insurance worth RMB 10,000 and medical insurance worth RMB 400,000 or social insurance upon application by the foreign teacher.
  • 6. Foreign teachers are entitled to national holidays and the school’s summer and winter vacations. If the traditional holidays of the foreign teachers’ countries conflict with the teaching schedule, the second-level faculty (teaching department) may consult the foreign teachers and make appropriate arrangements, but in principle, teaching should be the main focus.
