About Company

The International School of Qingdao, known as ISQ, was the first international school to be established in Qingdao. ISQ (formerly known as MTI International School of Qingdao, or QMIS) was founded in 1996 and is managed by MTI Education Foundation Co. is a member of the International Schools of China (ISC), one of the six schools established by MTI.

ISQ was licensed by the Qingdao Education Committee in June 1996 and by the State Ministry of Education in September 1996. In the beginning ISQ had only eight students ranging from kindergarten to grade 4. Since 1996, the number of students at ISQ has grown from eight to almost 400. As the number of students has grown, ISQ has relocated three times. Locations include: the location of the back wing of the High Tech Park of the First Middle School (1996 – 1998); the fourth floor Children’s Club of the Qingdao Children’s Activity Centre, 6 Donghai Road (1998 – 2007); and the Laoshan Campus (2007 – present), which is shared with a private Chinese school, the Bai Shan School.

Each move has allowed ISQ to better meet the needs of the student population and the school community. In 2004, MTI was incorporated into the Leadership Development International (LDI), and in 2010, ISQ officially changed its name and logo from QMIS to Qingdao International School (MTI) to better collaborate with other schools in ISC.
