Job Description

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (several posts) in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 526574), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract, subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Medicine, Surgery, Biology, Health Science, or a related discipline, with proven experience in clinical research and research project management.  They should also have solid research skills and track record focusing on cutting-edge orthopaedics.  Good translational research grant history and fundraising ability are essential.  Previous clinical or laboratory work experience with good knowledge of RCT design and management, FDA/CE regulations, are desirable.  They should be creative with new research ideas, demonstrating self-initiative with independent working ability, strong problem-solving skills, excellent logical thinking and data sensitivity.  They should also be able to manage a close multi-disciplinary team and establish external collaborations, as well as coordinate translational research of the department.

The appointees will develop research programmes independently; write scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; supervise research staff and research postgraduate students; participate in the planning and delivery of undergraduate/postgraduate programmes; and assist in administrative duties.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
