EARLY YEARS

1 Head of Early Years Foundation Stage

Requirements:

· Undergraduate degree or above in relevant field (eg: Early Childhood Development/Education or similar)

· Teaching certificate or equivalent

· English Language fluency

· A minimum of 4 years of successful teaching in an Early Years programme

· Demonstrated leadership skills either in a previous leadership role or in a middle leadership position or similar

* Head of Early Years also carries teaching responsibilities.

 

2 Reception Teacher

Requirements:

· Undergraduate degree or above in relevant field (eg: Early Childhood Development/Education or similar)

· Teaching certificate or equivalent

· English Language fluency

· A minimum of 2 years of successful teaching in an Early Years programme

 

PRIMARY

1 Primary Teacher

Requirements:

· Qualified Primary Teacher holding a degree in Primary Education or another relevant field

· 2 years’ successful experience as a Primary School Teacher

· Clear knowledge of child development in the Primary years

* Primary Teachers work closely with a Chinese Co-Teacher and share responsibility with the Co-Teacher for planning, effective delivery and assessment of children.

 

2 Primary Specialist PE Teacher

Requirements:

· Qualified PE Teacher holding a relevant degree in Physical Education/Sports Science or similar

· 2 years’ successful experience as a Primary PE Teacher

· Clear knowledge of child development in the Primary years

 

SECONDARY

1 PE Teacher (for students in Years 7-11, age 11-16)

Requirements:

· Qualified PE Teacher holding a relevant degree in Physical Education, Sports Science or similar.

· 2 years’ successful experience as a PE Teacher in Middle/High School.

· Ability to deliver the lessons in English.

 

2 Secondary School Mandarin Chinese Teacher

Requirements:

1. Master’s Degree in Education or related to language acquisition from an accredited university and a valid teaching certification;

2. At least 2 years of relevant subject teaching experience. Teaching experience in IGCSE, A-Level or other international curricula is a plus;

3. Proficiency in English, verbal and written. An IELTS score of 7 or above or a TOEFL score of 105 or above are preferred;

4. Good classroom management skills, and homeroom teacher work experience is preferred;

5. Strong ICT skills and use of educational technology in classroom practices;

6. Strong understanding and respect for a diversity of cultures and needs of language learners;

7. Strong understanding and experience with standards-based grading and assessment, balanced literacy, workshop model, differentiated instructional strategies, sheltered instruction, and use of data to inform instruction;

8. Evidence of a commitment to the value of team work; excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Ningbo British International School (www.nbis.net.cn) seeks to appoint an experienced and dynamic International Principal from August 2023.

NBIS is one school, on one campus, with three sections: Early Years, Primary and Secondary. Each section has a head who is responsible for the daily operations of the section.

The international principal has charge of all three sections.

The international principal works in close collaboration with the Chinese principal, who is also the legal representative of the school. The international principal heads up the Senior Leadership Team comprising:

  1. International Principal
  2. Chinese Principal
  3. Head of Early Years
  4. Head of Primary
  5. Head of Secondary
  6. Head of Chinese
  7. Head of Administration

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Member of the Board accountable to the Chair of the Board
  2. Implement the directives of the Board
  • Chair the Senior Leadership Team
  1. Member ex officio of the School Advisory Committee
  2. Support the Chinese Principal in all aspects of his/her work
  3. Timely appointment of all international staff and their contracts
  • The strategic development of the school
  • All daily operations of the school
  1. The quality of teaching throughout the school and the development of processes through which quality will improve and its scope be broadened
  2. The curriculum, its development and diversification in line with Board policy
  3. The authorisations and accreditations of external bodies: Cambridge, SAT, HSK, CIS and others as the school develops
  • All school communication with NBIS families
  • The profile of the school in the public domain and for building further its reputation for excellence as the international school of choice for expatriates in Ningbo.

Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in a relevant field
  • 8 years’ successful experience as a teacher
  • 4 years’ successful experience in a comparable leadership position
  • Robust knowledge of the Cambridge Curriculum
  • First language speaker of English with advanced writing skills
  • Competence in the use of technology
