Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) is a full time regular undergraduate university run by the State. II、Salary and Benefits

  • 1. Salary: Monthly salary varies from RMB6,000yuan to RMB12,000yuan (before tax), pay by the employment contract.
  • 2. Additional bonus will be given according to the annual performance assessment of the completion of one year contract.
  • 3. Meal Bonus: Meal bonus paid by month.
  • 4. The Air ticket covering the most direct route (or lowest price ticket) from your home country to Chongqing for arrival shall be reimbursed at the beginning of the contract. When you complete one academic year of service for SISU, we shall reimburse you one-way international air ticket covering the most direct route (or lowest price ticket) from Chongqing to your home country. Reimbursement for actual expenses.
  • 5. A free apartment equipped with necessary living facilities on campus, including certain quota of water, electricity, gas free for use and free Internet access etc.
  • 6. SISU purchases medical insurance covering mainland China for every foreign teacher. And each semester, we provide additional RMB500 yuan of outpatient medical expenses, which can be reimbursed with official invoices from public hospitals. We don’t provide medical expenses and insurance for foreign teachers outside mainland China, so you are required to purchase medical insurance covering overseas before entering China.
  • 7. Free Chinese language training classes will be set up regularly.

III、Other Conditions

  • 1. Co-teacher: There will be one Chinese co-teacher who can speak your mother language in the department you work for, helping with necessary life and work.
  • 2. Festival Gifts: We will prepare gifts for each foreign teacher in traditional Chinese Festivals.
  • 3. Activities: Cultural and social activities will be organized regularly to enrich you daily life.
  • 4. Environment: One of SISU’s most acclaimed features is its beautiful campus at the foot of Gele Mountain by the Jialing River.   • 5.Facilities and Equipment: SISU has classrooms with multimedia facilities and sound labs for foreign language teaching, translation and oral interpretation – the best in southwest China. Advanced teaching facilities have helped to ensure that the highest quality teaching, academic research and management occurs at SISU.
  • 6. Convenient Transportation: Chongqing, where the university is located, is one of the important central cities in China, the economic center of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the important modern manufacturing base of the country, and the comprehensive transportation hub of southwest China. It covers a total area of 82,400 square kilometers and has a permanent population of over 30 million. It has Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and 3 Railway stations, plus the city bus, subway and etc.
    SISU is located in Shapingba district, with a bus stop at the school gate. It is only 10-minute walk to the subway station, a 15-minute drive or 2 stops by metro to the nearest commercial circle. There are supermarkets, banks, restaurants and etc. in the neighbourhood, it’s very convenient to live and teach in SISU.

I. About XMU

Xiamen University (XMU), founded in 1921 by renowned patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Tan Kah Kee, is a leading university on China’s “211 Project” and “985 Project”, which have been launched by the Chinese government to support selected universities in achieving world-class standing. IV. Supportive Policy

  1. Remuneration and Benefits: RMB 160,000 to 480,000 per annum (the cooperative supervisor may provide additional funding based on the postdoctoral fellow’s research capabilities and performance, and XMU will contribute to the postdoctoral fellow’s social insurance and housing provident fund);
  1. Research Funding: Eligible to apply for the China Postdoctoral Science Fund, etc. (RMB 50,000 to 180,000);

1. About the School

The School of Journalism and Communication, Nanjing University grew out of the Film and Broadcasting Specialty Program of Jinling University (a predecessor of Nanjing University) in 1936. This was the first institution of film and broadcasting education in China and the first institution of higher education in audiovisual communication in China.

The school has a first-level discipline of master’s and doctoral programs in journalism and communication. It has three academic departments: (1) Radio, Film and Television; (2) Applied Communication; (3) Journalism and New Media. It also has various research centers and institutes, including the Center for Internet Communication; Institute of Communication and Society; Institute of Journalism and Politics; Institute of Media Economics and Management; Computational Communication Collaboratory; Journalism Innovation Laboratory; Sino-German Digital Marketing Laboratory; X-space Creative Marketing Workshop; AIS Institute (AI for Society) of Nanjing University

In 2013, the Cooperative Agreement on Building the School of Journalism and Communication was signed between the Publicity Department of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Nanjing University. According to the Ministry of Education, NJU’s discipline of journalism and communication was ranked among the top ten in the fourth round of discipline evaluation. It was selected into the key first-level disciplines of Jiangsu Province in the 13th Five-Year Plan and into the third batch of superior disciplines in Jiangsu Province. Research areas in communication theories, communication history and media history, new media communication, and mediated society have been at the domestic leading level.

 

2. Description of Openings

The School of Journalism and Communication invites applications to fill 3 open tenure-track positions (including 2 tenure-track assistant professor and 1 tenure-track associate professor )  in the disciplines of journalism and communication. The candidates are expected to teach and research in the following areas:

(1) Marxism journalism

(2) Theories of journalism

(3) Health communication

(4) Computational communication

(5) Political communication

(6) Media and sociology

3. Qualifications

(1) Abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, and have a passion for teaching and research;

(2) Abide by the ethics of teachers, uphold academic integrity, be willing to work diligently, and have no criminal record or record in breaching the ethics of teachers and/or academic integrity;

(3) Have a first-rate background in academic training—specifically, a PhD in relevant disciplines, experience in studying and/or working at first-rate teaching and research institutions, and knowledge of the latest international trends and development in the relevant research field(s);

(4) Have outstanding teaching abilities—the applicant should be able to teach core and frontline courses in the corresponding discipline, and have sound teaching methodology and strong verbal skills;

(5) Demonstrate outstanding research output and potential—the applicant should have publications in his/her field of research, original ideas about relevant fields of research, a clear vision about future research plans, and good potential for further academic development.

About the School of Journalism and Communication

The School of Journalism and Communication at Renmin University of China was founded in 1955. After more than sixty years of development, it has become a nationally acclaimed institution for journalism and communication education, a leader in education reform and innovation, and an important platform for global journalism and communication education exchanges and cooperation. In the four rounds of national disciplinary evaluations conducted by the Ministry of Education of China, its Journalism and Communication Discipline has been persistently ranked No. 1. In 2017, it has been enrolled into the Chinese “Double First Class” discipline plan.

The school’s Journalism and Communication program is classified as the first-class key discipline by the Ministry of Education. It has a national experimental teaching demonstration center, and a Ministry of Education Key Research Base of humanities and social sciences – the Journalism and Social Development Research Center. Currently the school has five departments, including Journalism, Communication, Audio-visual Communication, Advertising & Media Economics, and International Journalism and Communication. It has established a comprehensive talent training system covering undergraduates, masters, and doctoral degrees.

The school has built an ecological training system that breaks through professional barriers for nurturing outstanding journalism and communication talents. It now has about 60 faculty members, many of whom hold PhDs from prestigious Chinese and foreign universities. Focal areas of research include journalism history and theory, communication theory, visual communication, new media, international communication, media economics and management, advertising, intercultural communication, audio-visual communication, environmental communication and public diplomacy. It now houses two academic journals, one of them – Chinese Journal of Journalism and Communication – is a national core journal with an impact factor ranking among the top in China.

To advance the “Double First Class” discipline development, facilitate the future faculty recruitment and enhance academic research, the school is currently accepting applications all over the world for the faculty positions of assistant professor, associate professor and professor.

1. Assistant Professor

Eligibility Requirements:

· Candidates for Assistant Professor should have an earned doctorate by the date when the position starts, and demonstrate clear evidence of strong potential to establish a scholarly research program in one of the areas following.

Eligible Fields:

· Applicants with expertise of journalism, communication, international communication, computational communication, new media studies and strategic communication are preferred. Exceptional candidates with expertise of other areas are also given consideration.

2. Associate Professor

Eligibility Requirements:

· Candidates for Associate Professor positions are expected to hold tenure-track positions at internationally-renowned institutions, and must demonstrate clear evidence of a scholarly research.

Eligible Fields:

· Applicants with expertise of journalism, communication, international communication, computational communication, new media studies and strategic communication are preferred. Exceptional candidates with expertise of other areas are also given consideration.

3. Full Professor

Eligibility Requirements:

· Candidates for Full Professor positions are expected to currently hold tenured positions at globally renowned institutions, and have a record of excellence in teaching, scholarly achievement, and leadership.

Eligible Fields:

· Applicants with expertise of journalism, communication, international communication, computational communication, new media studies and strategic communication are preferred. Exceptional candidates with expertise of other areas are also given consideration.

Research Fields

Job Requirements

1. Hold a Ph.D. granted by a famous university or a scientific based research institution at home or abroad. The period in which the applicant completes the PhD dissertation should not generally exceed 3 years.

2. Have previously published in journals or have made achievements of equal significance.

3. Have excellent communication skills and be able to work in a team-oriented environment.

4. Be of sound moral character and in good health. The age of the candidate should, in most cases, be less than 35.

Salary and Welfare

1. A competitive salary is provided by both USTB and the supervisor (professor).

2. A postdoctoral apartment is offered.

3. Should the candidate have children and meet certain requirements they may be enrolled in an affiliated kindergarten or school.

4. Postdocs demonstrating excellent academic performance upon review are eligible to be granted remuneration for Special Associate Professors or Professors.

5. Postdocs who demonstrate excellent academic performance are eligible to be offered a faculty position at USTB upon completion of their postdoctoral fellowship.
