Post-holder Qualifications, Experience

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
  • To provide support and work under the supervision and guidance of the music teacher
  • Main purpose:
  • To undertake work/care/support programmes, to enable access to learning and to assist a teacher in the management of children and the classroom.
  • To support the teacher in the development and education of children including the provision of specialist skills as appropriate.
  • Under the instruction/ guidance of a teacher support children with non-specific learning difficulties.
  • It would be favourable for the candidate to be able to accompany students on the piano for rehearsals, concerts and assemblies

Main activities:

  • Assist children in the use of resources especially on playing musical instruments
  • Maintain children’s interests and motivation
  • Support individuals and group work assigned by the teacher in raising core skills.
  • To be aware of children problems, achievements, progress and report to the teacher as agreed.
  • Supervise and establish a constructive relationship with the children, provide particular support for children, including those with individual needs
  • Provide feedback to children in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of a teacher.
  • Assist children, on an occasional basis, with personal hygiene routines

Support for Teacher/School:

  • Provide support for learning activities by making a contribution to supporting a teacher in the planning and evaluation of learning activities and supporting the delivery of learning activities
  • Making a contribution to organizing effective learning environments
  • Monitor children responses to learning activities
  • Provide regular feedback to teachers on children achievement, progress and problems
  • Promote good behavior, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents and reporting in line with school policy.
  • Establish constructive relationships with parents
  • Support the use of musical instruments in learning activities and develop children competence and independence in its use.
  • Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, equal opportunities, health and safety, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person
  • Contribute to the overall ethos /work/aims of the school
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
  • Accept reasonable flexibility in working arrangements
  • Assist with preparation for rehearsals
  • Contribute to, support and attend extra curricular events
  • Develop supportive and safe learning environments
