Dezhou University (德州学院, website) is a full-time comprehensive undergraduate university directly under the Shandong Provincial Government. The school covers an area of 2021 acres, a building area of 682,000 square meters, a total value of 222 million yuan in teaching and scientific research equipment, and a collection of 2.32 million books. At present, there are 26,151 full-time undergraduate students, 12,920 students in adult education, and 152 graduate students in joint training. Dezhou University was founded in 1971 and has gone through three periods: Texas Teachers College, Texas College and Texas College. In May 1971, the Texas Teachers College was born in the “Cultural Revolution”. It experienced the difficult steps of its journey and continued to grow and develop in the process of standardization and transcendence. In March 1997, the Texas Normal College, the Texas Education College, and the Dezhou City Amateur University merged to run the three schools, forming the Texas Technical College, which opened the road to comprehensive education. Since 1999, it has also merged into 5 vocational colleges, and the application-oriented school characteristics have become more prominent. In March 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the establishment of the Texas College at the undergraduate level marked a historic leap from a college to a comprehensive college, and has become an important milestone in the development of Texas higher education. In 2006, it was among the first batch of similar universities in the country and the first in the province to pass the assessment of the undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of Education. In 2009, it was approved by Shandong Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial People’s Government Degree Committee as the first batch of joint training bases for graduate students in Shandong Province. In 2016, it passed the review and evaluation of the undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education. In 2017, it was approved as the first batch of joint training bases for postgraduate education in Shandong Province during the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” period. It was determined by the Shandong Provincial People’s Government Degree Committee as a Shandong Province master’s degree awarding construction unit. Dezhou University currently has 23 colleges, 3 research institutes, and 72 undergraduate majors. Dezhou University has approved a total of 184 national university student innovation and entrepreneurship training programs. He has won 41 awards for undergraduate science, technology and culture international competitions. Dezhou University’s basic research has made major breakthroughs in many aspects, and applied research has strong comprehensive research and development capabilities.
