A brief history

Tsinghua and Shenzhen’s joint venture into graduate education and scientific innovation began with the creation of the Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University (GSST) in 2001. An important part of Tsinghua’s commitment to becoming a leading global university and revolutionizing higher education, GSST adopted a globalized, comprehensive, and innovative approach to graduate education. Its seven academic divisions (Life Science & Health; Energy & Environment; Information Science & Technology; Logistics & Transportation; Advanced Manufacturing; Ocean Science & Technology; and Social Science & Management) supported the continued social, technological, and economic development of Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area.

GSST also emphasized on creating an internationalized learning environment, frequently engaging in exchanges and collaborations with foreign research and academic institutions. 2014 saw the joining of Tsinghua University and the University of California, Berkeley to establish TBSI; in 2015, Tsinghua University and the Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity (Paris) came together and established the Open Faculty for Innovation, Education, Science, Technology & Art (Open FIESTA).

A new journey

In March 2019, Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (Tsinghua SIGS) relaunched as a further expansion and integration of GSST and TBSI. With the features of “International, Borderless, and Entrepreneurial”, Tsinghua SIGS will continue to provide world-class graduate programs in seven interdisciplinary theme areas, conduct cutting-edge research collaborations and work with industry in the City and the Greater Bay Area.

Introduction to Zhejiang A&F University

Founded in 1958, Zhejiang A&F University (浙江农林大学, ZAFU) is a key comprehensive university of Zhejiang Province located in Lin’an District, Hangzhou (west end of Hangzhou Chengxi Sci-Tech Corridor). There are four departments, namely, Sports and Health, Humanities and Social Sciences, Olympic Sports, and Sports Engineering, and seven colleges, including College of Education (College of Physical Education) and College of Psychology, under the Department of Sports and Health; eight colleges, including College of Marxism and College of Management, under the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences; nine colleges, including China Football Academy (China Football Coaches Academy) and China Basketball Academy, under the Department of Olympic Sports. Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) is a higher institution under the administration of Zhejiang Provincial Government. It can trace its origin back to the former Zhejiang Specialized Medical School established in 1912. In August 1958, the Second Zhejiang Medical College was established in Wenzhou as a branch of Zhejiang Medical College, whose name was later changed to Wenzhou Medical College in accordance with its location. And WMU co-established Confucius Institutes with Burapha University in Thailand and State University of New York respectively. WMU was selected as the implementation institution of the “Program of Study Abroad for Young Scholar” sponsored by the China Scholarship Council, and the first batch of construction units of the “Internationalized Universities of Zhejiang Province”.

Composed of three campuses, WMU covers a total area of 1,900 mu. The university library has a collection of 2.03 million volumes. WMU publishes 5 academic Journals and 1 academic newspaper, among which Eye and Vision is listed in SCIE academic journal and 3 journals are listed as China science and technology core journals.
