University of Sanya (USY) was founded in 2005, located in Sanya City, Hainan Province, funded by Geely Group, one of the world’s top 500 companies, and is the fastest growing and most competitive private university in China. In 2016, Hainan Provincial Government and Sanya Municipal Government signed a contract to build US. In 2017, the university was awarded as one of the top 50 universities in China for innovation and entrepreneurship by the Ministry of Education, making it one of the few universities in China and the only one in Hainan with “double 50″ status. The campus covers an area of 200 hectares, with a total building area of nearly 500,000 square meters and a total investment of 3 billion RMB. And approximately 20,000 students enrolled.
The university has 21 colleges and offers 51 majors, covering 9 disciplines, including economics, management, law, literature, art, education, science, engineering and agriculture.
As of April 2022, the university has established high-level collaborative bodies with Peking University, Tsinghua University, the Sanya Institute of Deep Sea Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Ecological Civilization Center of the State Forestry Administration, the Department of Culture and Sports of Hainan Province, the Tourism Commission of Hainan Province, etc., co-organized the three sessions of the Forum on Global Urban Civilization and Urban Innovation at Loppenfeng with the School of Government of Peking University, established the School of Health Industry and Management and the Health Industry Research Institute with the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission and Fashion Group. The School of Health Industry Management and Health Industry Research Institute have been established with the National Development and Reform Commission’s Center for International Cooperation and Fashion Group; the Virtual Teaching and Research Department of Financial Technology has been established with the Central University of Finance and Economics; the Saxo Financial Technology Business School has been established with Saxo Bank of Denmark; and the Creative Incubation Base for University Students has been established with the Sanya Municipal Government.
As of November 2021, the university cooperates with Copenhagen Business School in Nilsbruck, Denmark to hold undergraduate education programs (hotel management), with Saxo Bank in Denmark to jointly train financial technology majors, and with Berkeley College in the United States to hold undergraduate education programs in international economics and trade; the school cooperates deeply with hotel groups in Sanya to explore ” The school cooperates with Sanya Hotel Group to explore the mode of “order-type” industry-university-research cooperation to cultivate talents, cooperates with Geely Group to explore the joint training mode of school-enterprise in vehicle engineering, cooperates with Zhejiang Geely Group, Zhejiang Transfar Group and other enterprises to carry out school-enterprise cooperation to build related industrial colleges; establishes more than 20 bases of industry-university-research cooperation with government, research institutes and industries and enterprises.
