Job Description

Mathematics teachers

The teacher will:

– prepare and deliver an average of 12 45-minute math sessions per week (for 36 school weeks), in English, which may be spread across multiple grade levels (e.g., grades 1 and 3, or grades 2,3 and 4). The yearly teaching load is  between 384 to 432  teaching sessions.
 
– regularly evaluate students and design exam topics and answer keys;
– participate in discussions on syllabus revisions and in pedagogical meetings;
– provide oral examination time (if established);
– participate in other activities related to mathematics education.
There are no research requirements for this position.

Required skills:

The candidate will have at least one year of experience teaching mathematics in higher education.
The candidate’s mathematical knowledge and skills must be generalist: the teaching will not be limited to a single field.
An open mind is fundamental and the candidate should be able to adapt his/her teaching methods to both the typical methods of the « preparatory classes for grandes écoles »  and to the students of the Institute.
A good level of English is essential as teaching will be in English and communication with the administration of the institute and with colleagues is generally in English.
The candidate will be a team player with good interpersonal skills and will be able to work in a supportive team with his/her counterparts.
The main qualities sought in our future colleagues are: a clear focus on teaching, a positive attitude and team spirit, a taste for change and adaptability.

Required diplomas :

A doctoral degree or at least a Master’s degree and 24 months of teaching experience, excluding internships, are required to obtain a visa.
The « agrégation externe de Mathématiques » is a big plus.

Physics teachers

In Physics, there are several different  kinds of teaching : lecture (full class about 100 students), exercise sessions (about 25 students), oral exams (3 students) and lab work session (about 25 students).

The teacher will :

• prepare and teach a weekly  average of 12 teaching sessions (1 teaching session= 45 minutes) of Physics  over the school year (36 weeks). The teaching language is English. The teaching can be done in  different years (for example, years 2 and 3 or  years 2 and 4…).• Written documents in English will be given for lecture, exercise sessions, labwork.• The yearly teaching load is  between 384 to 432  teaching sessions.• assess regularly the students’ level:  conceive exam questions and answers, watch the exams.• participate to meetings on syllabus’ contents and pedagogical meetings;

• participate in oral exams

• participate in other activities related to Physics teaching

There are no research requirements for this position.
