Description


The program of Public Relations and Advertising (PRA) in the Department of Communication at UIC invites applications from student-centered scholar-practitioners broadly trained in one or more of the following fields: 1) strategic campaigns, 2) graphic design, 3) integrated marketing communication, and 4) advertising copywriting. There are opportunities to develop innovative pedagogy and collaborative research.


The position will include teaching in the Public
Relations and Advertising Program, supervising capstone projects, advising
undergraduate and graduate students, and providing service to the department
and the university.

Requirement


All applicants should hold a PhD degree iin a related discipline with a commensurable research profile. Applicants with an MA and extensive industry experience will also be considered. Relevant
industrial experience is highly valued. Other requirements include a firm commitment to teaching and tutoring students as well as engaging in theory-based qualitative or quantitative research. Teaching responsibilities of 3 courses per semester may include courses related to communication theory, cross-cultural/intercultural communication, and others of the applicant’s own interests. Research experience in media literacy and digital/new media-related areas will be an added asset. Preference will be given to candidates who can undertake original research leading to high-quality outcomes.


Appointment
Terms


Appointment to this position will initially be
made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Commencing salaries will be
commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits
include housing allowance, leave and social insurance. Continuation of
appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.
