Introduction to Changchun University
Changchun University (长春大学) is located in Changchun, Jilin Province, which is known as the “Northland Spring City”.
Changchun University was founded in 1949 by the former Northeast People ’s Government ’s Ministry of Industry as the Changchun Industrial Accounting and Statistics School, which trained the first batch of industrial accounting and statistics talents for the People ’s Republic of China. The school changed its name several times during the simultaneous development of the country and the change of the times. In 1983, it changed its name to Jilin Mechanical and Electrical College. In 1987, with the approval of the former National Education Commission, the former Jilin University of Science and Technology, Jilin Mechanical and Electrical College, Changchun Foreign Language College, and Changchun Vocational University merged to form Changchun University. In August 2000, the former Jilin Province Forestry School was merged. In 2019, Changchun University, the same age as the Republic, ushered in the 70th anniversary of the founding of the university. This is a historical node that has been passed down and is a new starting point for sailing.
The university currently has three campuses, covering a total area of 1.02 million square meters. It has 21 teaching colleges, 58 undergraduate majors, 6 master’s degree authorized first-level disciplines, and 9 master’s degree authorized places. The majors cover ten majors of economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, and art. There are 16,349 full-time students.
Changchun University currently has 831 full-time teachers, including 115 senior titles, 291 associate senior titles, and 303 graduate mentors. The school has winners of the State Council’s special allowances, middle-aged and young experts who have made outstanding contributions to the country, selected scholars in the New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education, national technical experts, professors specially appointed by Changbai Mountain scholars, famous teachers in Changbai Mountain, national outstanding teachers, advanced individuals with disabilities in the country, National college counselors of the year included 22 people.
The university has won two national awards and 46 provincial awards in national and provincial teaching achievement awards. There are currently 2 national specialties and 8 provincial specialties; 8 special high-level disciplines in Jilin Province, of which 7 are characteristic specialty courses and 1 is emerging interdisciplinary. The school has been included in the “Top 300 National Universities for Innovative Talents Cultivation and Discipline Evaluation Results” issued by the Chinese Higher Education Association for three consecutive years.
Based on the industrial structure of Northeast China and Jilin Province, the university has established two national scientific research platforms including the National Soybean Deep Processing Technology Research and Promotion Center and the National Soybean Engineering Technology Research Center and Jilin Branch Center. The scientific research team headed by Professor Li Ronghe, the national advanced author, the National May 1 Medal winner, and many other honors, has won a number of national patent awards and has been translated and applied for Jilin Province and the country in the field of deep processing of soybeans. And has made outstanding contributions in terms of achievement transformation. The school also relies on the traditional professional advantages of electromechanics to meet the needs of Jilin Province and Changchun in the fields of machinery, electronics, automobiles, computers, rehabilitation equipment, etc., and has made an important contribution to serving the development of local industries. The school has 16 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms such as Jilin Provincial Rehabilitation Equipment for Disabled Persons and Technology and Technology Innovation Center, and 21 university-level scientific research platforms including Changchun University Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. The school actively promotes cooperation with affiliated colleges and local governments, and has signed the Jilin University Supporting Changchun University Framework Agreement with Jilin University and the Jinhua Municipal People’s Government and Changchun University Science and Technology Cooperation Framework Agreement with the Zhejiang Province.
Changchun University attaches great importance to fostering a distinctive campus culture. There are currently 109 student associations of various types. Students won first prizes in five consecutive national art exhibitions, and won 14 national awards in the National Challenge Cup and Youth Creation competition. “Tuanfeng Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team” was named “Xiaoping Technology Innovation Team” by the Central Committee of the League. The school has been awarded the “Three Going to the Countryside” social practice advanced unit 20 times by the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Education, the Communist Youth League Central Committee, and the China Federation of Students.
The University insists on creating a network security college based on “network technology security and network culture security”, and deeply cultivates Chinese excellent traditional cultural network communication. In 2015, the school led the establishment of the China Cultural Network Communication Research Association, which was the first national social organization approved and established by the National Cyberspace Office after its establishment. In 2016, the first online national academy in China was established, and a national network culture research center was set up. The only “Jilin network culture research base” in Jilin Province to study network culture was established. In 2017, the school established the only network security college in the three provinces of Northeast China. In 2018, it was approved as a “Master of Cyberspace Security” master’s degree. In 2019, it officially recruited master’s degree students.
Changchun University insists on running schools internationally and extensively carries out international cooperation and exchanges. It is the first batch of colleges and universities in China that has the qualifications for recruiting foreign students in China. . Now has the Chinese Government Scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship, Jilin Provincial Government Scholarship, “Silk Road” Chinese Government Scholarship Program for international students to accept qualifications. Relying on an excellent Russian teaching and scientific research team, the school builds the advantage of Russian as a foreign language, establishes the first Russian language center in Jilin Province, and jointly builds a “study abroad training base in Russia” with the Chinese Education Service Center of the Ministry of Education, and establishes Asia’s first research institute dedicated to Ye Sanin. The institution, Yesenin Culture and Education Center, successfully hosted the “10th China-Russia University Presidents Forum”, and the Confucius Institute established in cooperation with the Russian Ryazan State University won the honorary title of “Advanced Confucius Institute.”
In 2017, the university became the second batch of universities in China to deepen innovation and entrepreneurship education. The FCC team achieved good results in the Ninth China University Student Formula Car Competition and Electric Formula Race, and won the honorary title of “The Most Influential Team of the 2018 Season”.
