Job Description:

The role of a Foreign English teacher is to help our students speak English and improve English practical skills. Those responsibilities include preparing lessons and lesson material, teaching young adult students, holding counseling sessions, assisting colleagues, maintaining records, writing progress reports, etc. You will have a 16-20 classes per week, each class for 45 minutes; there is no office hours required for this position.

Salary and Benefits

1. 8,000 RMB/month for Bachelor’s degree holder
2. 9,000 RMB/month for Master’s degree holder

The School of Foreign Studies (SFS), whose predecessors include the Foreign Language Section established in 1961 under Wenzhou Normal College (WNC) and the Foreign Trade and Economics Teaching and Research Office established in 1985 under the former Wenzhou University (WZU), officially came into being in January 2005 through the merger of the College of Foreign Languages of WNC and the Foreign Language Teaching Department of the former WZU. Currently, SFS consists of four departments of English, Translation & Interpreting, Japanese, and Foreign Language Teaching for Non-majors, offering three BA programs in English Language & Literature, Translation & Interpreting, and Japanese Language & Literature, and two MA programs in Translation & Interpreting and Subject Teaching (English).

Living in Hangzhou

Hangzhou is often considered the city where one wants to spend retirement in China. Its downtown has a modern skyline along the Qiangtang River that lights up at night with a fantastic array of images; in stark contrast to the nearby peaceful West Lake area, with beautiful tree-lined paths winding around the historic lake with tea houses, restaurants, shops, and five-star hotels nestled away.

Our school campus is about a 15-minute drive to either downtown or West Lake, and the train station is about 5 minutes away–once on a bullet train, you’ll be in Shanghai in 40 minutes. 2. You will be paid from September 2023 to Aug 2024 for 12 months including a paid winter vacation for about 3-4 weeks and a paid summer vacation for about 6-8 weeks.
3. Housing stipend: 2,000 RMB/month. Housing is provided on campus but you will need to use the stipend to pay for the housing provided.
4. 10,000 RMB flight reimbursement at the end of the school year
